EDISHINE 1300LM Flexible Gooseneck Floor Reading Lamp

Why this one

Brightest number in the guide by a distance, on a pole you can raise and a gooseneck that bends 360 degrees, with touch controls on the body and a remote for the bed. Four named modes - nursing, work, night light, reading - and stepless dimming from 10 to 100 percent. Two warnings from the listing itself: the dimensions are labelled the wrong way round, with 66 in printed as the depth, so the height and base diameter need checking before you assume it fits, and the power source is never stated, although the photo shows a cord running from the base.

What it had to clear

• 1300 lumens, the only high-output figure published in this guide
• touch controls plus a remote, with four named modes
• 360 degree gooseneck on an adjustable pole
